(stupid blogspot something wrong dont allow me to put title to this post BASKET!!)
I had my vacation at Bali over the weekend with a “friend”, I say a “friend” because she’s not exactly my friend but she’s sort-of-my-girlfriend(it’s complicated) which is technically a friend. Don’t you just love juicy complicated relationship stories? Anyways, since only a handful of my friends(yes, its you Crispin Chiew, Felicia Then, Chong Tin, micole and tzeaen) know of this blog, I shall just go ahead and post our pictures here, see how good I am. But promise keep to self, later become more complicated susah.

our flight to Bali

So we booked our flights, booked our hotels, booked our tours and we’re ready to go. Actually I booked our flight, hotels, tours and other what-not, not easy trying to impress the love of your life how good you are at planning a trip.... No no...was just kidding, actually planning a trip is fun, if given the freedom to decide of course. You get to choose which hotel you want to stay at, you get to choose what tour you’d like to join, and what to do and what not to do, of course I’d come up with list of hotels and let her decide in the end, but all the hotels, tours etc in the list are already to my liking :p

yes, its a boring flight

Total damage to our little piggy bank was RM3,500-ish. My little piggy bank was never big, but now it has shrunk to the size of a peanut(for comparison purpose, Uncle Lim has a piggy bank the size of the whole mount kinabalu, yes….i am that poor now) but well its all worth it…I hope…

typical bali statue

Anywho, we spent a good 5 days 4 nights in bali at various location, kuta, ubud and sanur. The famous kuta area, the most crowded place in Bali, where there are more Australians than Balinese, the young half-naked and bikini clayed Australians really know how to have a good time, with beer in one hand, cigarette in the other, they walked down the streets of kuta in numbers making huge amount of noise as if they are staging a protest of some sort, but in actually fact, they are just having a good time…..the drunken way.

road at kuta

Kuta is famous for its surfer’s beach, it has enormous waves and aussies love surfing(which explains why there are so many of them there), kuta beach is also famous for its pesky vendors, trying to sell you anything from drinks to massage service to tattoo painting to arrow and bow(now this I don’t understand) and they are everywhere, the most said phase from me in Bali was “no, thank you”. Everywhere I go, people are trying to sell me stuff. They are of no harm, just a little annoying.
We signed ourselves up for a tour program, and it was a wonderful one, we visited temples, went to see the volcano, went to see craftsman, artist, and bali famous paddy field, not the normal flat one but a paddy rice terrace at the slope of hill one mai-kau-siaw.

home temple entrance

We spent 2 days and 2 night staying in kuta and we were heading to Ubud on the 3rd day, Ubud is famous for its secludeness aka romantika, with hills and rivers and expensive hotels and restaurant how can it not be romantic? Well, the hotel is nice, it’s beautifully built on the edge of river, with so much green around it. We took so many pictures around here.

once of the dance that we went to see

On the 4th day we moved to sanur area, the real beach area, where the waves are calm, supposedly suitable for swimming-snorkelling etc, but I didn’t realize the water would be so cold in the morning! So believe it or not, I went to bali and I didn’t swim in the sea, ma-chau-hai!! The beach aren’t exactly that beautiful, really over-rated, redang has much nicer beach(yes micole, you should go!!)

we stumbled upon some ceremony on the streets

We loved our tour guide so much that we signed up for another trip with them, I really like this tour company, they are very good, very professional, fulfilled our every needs, very knowledgeable about the places they brought us and are very flexible, I remember we were at kintamani having our lunch over-looking the volcano mountain(the best view of all) and we were sitting there having our sweet time and didn’t realize we spent so much time there, our poor tour guide must have waited for more than 2 hours outside the restaurant, sorry Nyoman! All he did was smile and say its okay….how nice!
Anyways, enough talking, look at photos!!

ground zero memorial

When we stayed in kuta, we were staying very close to where the bombing happened, its kinda sad to see that, people in bali really hate the terrorist, with the bombing, tourist stop coming to bali and that really made life hard for most of the balinese who's in the tourism industry, i saw this shirt that print FUCK THE TERRORIST, wanted to buy it but scared the terrorist might bomb my house.

Bali is a very nice place, just alittle dirty and all but then everything was great, buying food was easy, communication was easy(can speak malay ma), then people appreciate tourist, cause they realise thats where their income come from, we had a wonderful time there and I'd like to promote the tour company that we joined, Bali kartika Tours(www.balikartikatours.com) very nice poeple, at the end of our tour they gave us a gift somemore. I recommend going to bali, not that expensive if you choose cheap hotels, and also if go Bali must join kintamani tour, must use a guide cause trust me, you wouldn't want to drive or take a cab in bali. OK LA, thats all bye bye.
