Penang

Just got back from penang 2 days ago, it was fun. I stayed in Kulim which is 50 kilometers from penang. But spent most of time in penang, just go Kulim to spend the night.

Penang is very much the China of Malaysia, majority of the people there are Chinese and they speak hokkien which is very much different from the hokkien I speak.

Friend: wa hua chia

Me: ha?? Lu kong si mik?

Friend: wa kong wa hua chia #while his hands show that he is holding the steering wheel#

Me: ohhhhh walau you mean lu SAI chia hia???

The flight to penang is a pain, have to stop over at KLIA and wait there for more than an hour, damnit…cannot have direct flight mehh

waiting at the airport can be very boring, you’ve got no one to talk to and you’re stuck in the boarding terminal, can’t go anywhere else.

well went around penang over the weekend and must thank poh for bringing me around, enjoyed the food there, I remember me eating almost all the time, syok ah. Go penang must eat their laksa and cha kueh tiaw, also must buy their tau sa piah or is it tau sar pneah??? You say la…which one is correct??

how do you pronounce pneah??

Also we went redbox, joehan, ah choo, poh, ming wei and tzewei were also there.

one strange thing I see when I was in penang airport was that airasia have its customer walk up to the plane themselves, no air bridge connecting to the door of the aircraft, heard that airasia didn’t pay for that service, well low budget mahhh

when we were flying over penang, there was this small island in between the mainland and penang island, wahh got people’s house there ler….heard poh said that its some rich datuk’s house there….wahh saii talk about living in luxury

before touching down in kuching, we flew over 1st silicon, I can see the parking lot that I usually park my car

well I don’t know how well I did for my personal “business” there, I guess I will know it in 2-3 weeks time, we’ll see how it goes.

Ohhh and by the way, its my birthday today! am 24 years young today, feel so grown up d hehehe

Things that I want to do while there:

  1. Get a successful business deal
  2. meet up with poh
  3. meet up with my sis
  4. eat cha kueh tiaw
  5. get to know more about penang cost of living

Hope this trip will be fruitful, also hope tsunami will not stuck penang while i'm there.

Kuching Idiot Idol

Yes!! kuching held it's first very own kuching idol contest and coincidentally it was held on the same day as Fish Leong's (梁静茹) concert in Bukit Jalil, proud to say we had our own concert in kuching but at a muchx1000 smaller scale but nevertheless it was still an event to be proud of.

We had 11 people registered for the contest but at the end only 6 showed up and 1 was even late! but thats not going to stop the organizing committee to carry on the event, coincidentally 3 of the contestants are the organizing committee themselves, talk about coincident!!

Anyways, the event started off at 830pm in a primitive karaoke lounge, I say primitive because unlike other karaoke lounge that I've been to before, you had to personally write down your song request and hand it over to the "DJ" who is 2 floors below you, running up and down the stairs i guess is a sort of training method to enable you to have better singing power, something to do with stamina. Well, can't expect much can you? it does rather make you feel like it's the stone age and things are done manually, coincidentally the karaoke is called "The Cave" the name suited it so much.

our 1st contestant colina...powerful vocal!

(L-R)contestant karen and png getting friendly with each other

contestant colina helping out calvin(guy in black shirt) who can't read chinese to sing a chinese song

(L-R)colina and karen doing head-to-head battle with bunny and png looking on

the battle between colina and karen continues....

up to a point where both of them started to get really serious, stand and sing!

contestant happily and readily post for the camera

contestant calvin singing a non-mandarin song(how do i know it's non-mandarin song? cause nobody is sitting next to him reading the lyrics to him) while karen looks on

(L-R) Calvin and bunny give it a go while karen post for the camera

wen who was late for the contest manages to sing a few songs

and he sms-ed to vote for himself

winner of 2005 kuching idol......colina....colina giving out a victory sign, png congratulating her and calvin admiring the trophy

After counting the votes sent in by viewings, colina created history by being the winner of the 1st ever kuching idol....coincidentally, she's also the head of the organizing committee, sound suspicious doesn't it....

since the whole night is filled with coincidentals, i shall give you 1 last coincident thing, all of
the contestants happen to be working at the same place, this has got to be the most "coincidentious" event ever held.
